Do you ever feel like you need a vacation from your vacation? I recently took a trip to France (visited Paris and Corsica), and walked into a whirlwind of a work week once I got back. Still a week later, I am just settling down and catching up on my blog now! In France, I walked an average of 10-14 miles a day–crazy, I know! My days were jam-packed with sightseeing and adventure, and I loved every moment of it.
This was my second time visiting Paris. During my first visit, I was studying abroad in Milan, and a group of friends and I traveled to Paris for a weekend. Although it snowed all weekend, my friends and I could barely figure out public transportation, and none of us spoke French, we still made the most out of it. I remember seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle for this first time and thinking to myself, “wow, this is truly magical.” Paris is a much bigger city than I imagined, and unfortunately we didn’t get to see and do everything we wanted to. This time around, I was determined to do it all. Luckily, the weather was on my side this trip with sunny skies and 75 degree weather!
When I think of Paris, I think of Haute Couture and scenes from The Devil Wears Prada. For my trip, I packed a bunch of clothes that I thought were Parisian-chic: lace, ruffles, a decent amount of black, and really anything sophisticated and elegant looking. In reality, I noticed that Parisian-chic is really just laid back, effortless-looking style. Parisians take “effortlessly cool” to a whole new level. I felt like I was trying too hard, but here are some of my looks that I came up with for my trip:
Look 2: Pom Pom Heels: AMIClubwear; Top: H&M; Shorts: Urban Outfitters
Look 3: Top: H&M; Pants: Zara; Earrings: Kate Spade; Bracelet: Stella & Dot
Look 4: Bought the dress & hat on the street in Paris! 🙂
Look 5: Lantern Top: SheIn; Sunglasses: Ray-Ban; Purse: Louis Vuitton; Shorts: BDG
To balance out my urban vacation, I needed a dose of vitamin-SEA as well! Corsica is an island located south of France. It reminds me of an island in the Caribbean, just located in Europe. Locals say it’s much better than Nice, although I have yet to visit–still on my list, so I can’t compare just yet! Mountains, beaches, and insanely blue and turquoise waters–Corsica is truly a hidden gem.
In terms of fashion, I was thinking beach babe by day and casual, sun-kissed style by night. Because we were there for only two days, our schedule did not allow for a lot of outfit changes, however, here are my favorite looks from my island getaway (p.s. check out that water!!):
Look 1: Swimsuit: Asos; Red Hat: Bought on the street in Paris because it was insanely hot, but it also came in handy for photos 🙂
Look 2: Striped Romper: AMIClubwear
Look 3: Yellow Dress: Boutique store I found in Paris Called NAFNAF; Embroidered Shoes: AMIClubwear
Can’t wait to tell you more in detail about my travels..look out for travel posts to follow! I will be launching the travel section of my blog soon 🙂
